The Hippo
Chapter 1
...
The hippo is banging around in the kitchen again. I hear the bark of dishes shattering, pots and pans keeling over. I told you this wasn't a good idea, I know hippos, just yesterday she almost ate Mr. Grey, but no ... "hippos are cute." The house is a disaster, straw all over everything. The coffee table is crushed. The sofa sags almost to the floor in the middle. Chairs are broken. Filth everywhere. I'm nauseated.
This time I'm serious ... she has to go!
---
When she first turned up I, unsurprisingly, had some questions. First and foremost, how would the cat react? He's been under the house for four days so far. How would Mr. Grey, the five year old pot belly pig survive? By being remarkably quick on his feet and small enough to skuttle under almost anything - certainly more skuttle-able than the hippo.
What I didn't ask, and this is slightly surprising, was how it would affect me. Apparently I wasn't the only one who omitted asking this question.
