call for submissions: short films exploring diversity / humanity / cross-cultural understanding (March 3)

The Rose Group for Cross-Culture Understanding, is looking for short films that explore themes of diversity, humanity and cross-cultural understanding. Judging will be on the basis of technical skill, creativity, and insight into the subject. The top three winners will receive a cash award of $500 and will be invited to travel to Beijing, China in May, 2008. Airfares, accommodation and sightseeing trips are included. Opportunities to interact with Chinese filmmakers and international film communities in Beijing will be provided. The films submitted do not need to be about China or any other country or culture. The intention of the competition is to find films that explore the complexities of human understanding. Anyone is eligible to enter the competition. The entries must be 30 minutes or less in length, and can be submitted in DVD or VHS in NTSC format. All submissions must have been completed between 2005 and 2007 and must be in English or have English subtitles. To enter the competition, an entry form and the film must be submitted by March 3, 2008. Entry forms and instructions can be found at the website, www.therosegroup.org .
