Call for Artists

Sauti za Busara music festival, Feb 7-10, 2008

The 5th edition of Sauti za Busara music festival takes place in
Stone Town, Zanzibar during February 7-10, 2008. The festival is
organised by Busara Promotions, a non-profit cultural NGO registered
in Zanzibar.

Sauti za Busara [Sounds of Wisdom] brings people together in
celebration of the wealth and diversity of music from the Swahili-
speaking world. The main venue is Zanzibar's historic Old Fort,
facing the waterfront of the Indian Ocean. More than thirty groups
from East and Central Africa participate each year, with another up
to ten groups invited from other parts of the African continent and
diaspora.

For artists and groups interested to participate in the 2008
festival, please note the deadline to receive applications is August
31, 2007. Send these to Busara Promotions at the address below.
Applications must include recent recordings (audio and/or video) and
biography information.

For artists performing in the festival or participating in workshops,
the festival provides modest artists fees and covers all local
expenses in Zanzibar, including accommodation and payments for food,
transport and other incidentals. Artists from outside East Africa
will usually have to find their own travel sponsors.
