What are your fellow artists creating in another part of the world? How do you get in contact with professionals from abroad? What about the insight in your own artistic practice? Are you convinced that you might benefit from encounters with other devoted artists and professionals from the international art scene? If so, it would be wise to apply for this year’s International Artist Village in Eindhoven (The Netherlands).

During an intense three-day-program (August 10–12, with an entry & exit day) a group of 20 artists, age 35 or under, will be given the opportunity to join the Artist Village taking place in Eindhoven. The Artist Village provides an ideal environment where artists can immerse in an open investigation of their work.

Participants attend six daily one-on-one conversations with curators, established artists, gallerists, architects, psychoanalysts, art critics, and others. The conversations are held on the basis of your portfolio and focus primarily on content and the contextualisation of it. Some of the commentators are: Helen Carey (Firestation Dublin, Ireland), Nadia Jellouli-Guachati (Architect The Netherlands), Lieven Jonckheere (Psychoanalyst Belgium), Kirke Kangro (Artist / Dean Academy Estonia), Hana Ostan Ozbolt (Art promotor Slovenia), Cliodhna Shaffrey (Director Temple Bar Studios Dublin, Ireland), Michaëla Stock (Galerist Vienna, Austria), Ranti Tjan (Director EKWC, The Netherlands), Stef Van Bellingen (Curator WARP, Belgium), Lex Van Lith (Artist / Director Beeldenstorm / Daglicht, The Netherlands) and others.

An advanced evening programme gives you the opportunity to get in touch with your fellow participants. On the programme is a peer review by former participants, lectures and explorations of the cultural heritage and contemporary art scene of Eindhoven.

The atmosphere of being away from routine allows for in-depth discussions and a platform for open debate. Even at more advanced stages of ones career, it is important to have mentorship and support in a professional capacity. The range of discussions and feedback can provide you with a whole set of ideas and ways for further developing your practice. The feedback, discussions and support from professionals are an intense and great combination that pushes the participants to continuously engage about their art practice. This can develop towards participation in exhibitions, residencies or other collaborations.

After several editions participants experienced that this nomadic community leads to long-term relations between artists, commentators and institutes, creating an autonomous and alternative mental space in the contemporary art scene. Networks no longer stay virtual or ephemeral but become profound, stimulating relationships.

WARP Contemporary Art Platform is a non-profit organisation based in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium) with an international horizon in mind. It has a program of exhibitions and lectures, but always with the challenging question: How to inspire and support artists? For this reason we initiated portfolio days and the extended version of it, the Artist Village. Selected artists of previous editions have become the creative reservoir for further exhibitions.

This Artist Village is co-organised by Beeldenstorm / Daglicht, a knowledge centre in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) where materials, techniques and knowledge are used that fit the current, ever changing wishes of the creators. Their main goal is to support and encourage production, research and experiment.

Artists until the age of 35 can submit their portfolio until May 11. For further information and the application form, please contact the websites of Beeldenstorm / Daglicht or WARP.
