The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland includes nine schools with more than 11'000 students. The Academy for Art and Design offers BA and MA courses in design, fi ne arts and art education and is active in design and art research. We are looking for you to join the HyperWerk Institute from 1st June 2017 or by agreement in Basel, Switzerland:

Head of HyperWerk Institute

Your tasks: On the basis of a substantial and recognised international design practice, you will take on the management of the institute and continue to develop the degree program together with the HyperWerk team. A crucial role will be to expand, along with instructors and BA students, the art of experimental design in the framework of the didactic concepts of a learning laboratory and of actionbased research. As part of management, your position involves working on the strategy of the Academy's development. HyperWerk is a project-oriented learning laboratory aimed at advancing its players through fl exibility, initiative and teamwork. The interdisciplinary collective of students, lecturers and partners test and observe their own dispositions dynamically. For 18 years, HyperWerk has researched, transformed and mutated. You will draw on your international network of contacts to develop exemplary projects together with inter- and transdisciplinary teams. In collaboration with students, contributors and internal and external partners you will work to expand the range of topics HyperWerk seeks to address. A large number of guest lecturers as well as effi cient tools towards self-organization enable vibrant action in the real world.

Your profile: You hold a degree in design, art or architecture/urbanism and have demonstrated an in-depth understanding of experimental design in the areas of social, cultural and economic transformation. You seek collaboration with other design institutions, while having an in-depth understanding of the scientifi c and aesthetic dimensions of process-oriented dialogue. You have extensive teaching experience and are familiar with the Swiss educational landscape. Management and personnel management skills, social skills, empathy, and communication skills as well as a good command of English and German (min. C1 level) complete your profi le. To identify with the region it is expected that you will take up residence in the Basel area.
