The Skirball Cultural Center’s Teaching Our World Through the Arts program seeks proposals from Movement and Theater Artists to facilitate a workshop for a K-12 teacher professional development program.

TEACHING OUR WORLD THROUGH THE ARTS
is a professional development program that prepares K–Grade 12 teachers to integrate the arts into core curriculum. In this multi-disciplinary strand, inspiring practitioners in dance and theater will share methods for integrating movement and theater skills into classroom teaching.

WORKSHOP DATES (teaching artists are hired for one date only)
STRAND 3: MOVEMENT AND THEATER, Saturdays February 27, March 5, 12, 19, 2016

PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Your 500 word max. proposal should outline a workshop that is…
- Grounded in Movement AND/OR Theater techniques.
- Designed to serve K-Grade 12 teachers across curriculum areas.
- Focused on the development of hands-on skills teachers can integrate into their curriculum areas.
- Active and interactive: teachers should learn by doing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEACHING ARTIST
- Develop a syllabus and lesson plan for ONE 2 to 4-hour workshop session.
- Attend one planning meeting at the Skirball prior to the workshop session date.
- Facilitate a 2 to 4 hour workshop session on a designated date.

QUALIFICATIONS
The qualified candidate will have professional Movement or Theater experience, and at least two years previous teaching experience (experience working with classroom teachers a plus). A successful candidate will be organized and communicative; flexible and able to adapt lesson plans based on feedback; passionate and inspiring with respect to their art form.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Teaching Artists are hired as independent contractors for individual workshop sessions.

2) Resume or curriculum vitae with relevant teaching / instructional experience.
3) Documentation of teaching (1 sample curriculum piece/lesson plan).
4) Workshop proposal (see requirements above).

5) Workshop dates you are available to teach.
