Project Bully Free Zone seeks teaching artists

IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITY
School and After School Program Teaching Artists

Project Bully Free Zone is seeking energetic and experienced teaching
artists to work on a consultant basis with NYC public school students (K-12)
in-school and after school integrating the arts into academic subjects.
Experience with special needs students and/or English language learners.

A flexible schedule is essential, as artists must be willing to travel to
multiple boroughs and must be available to work at least two days per week.
Commute times to the schools are often more than one hour, including travel
to the outer areas of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens.

Applicants must have a BA college degree and 2-3 years of teaching
experience, as well as a strong passion for arts integration. Please note
that this is a contracted teaching artist position, not full-time.

Project Bully-Free Zone™ is a unique academic enrichment program, rooted in
the arts, to assist students in grades K-12, their parents, and educators to
create SUSTAINABLE positive learning communities.

Project Bully-Free Zone™ Project Bully Free Zone is a scalable program that
provides students, staff and parents with the necessary skills and tools to
integrate bullying/cyber bullying prevention directly into every aspect of
the:

a) academic school curriculum
b) classroom
c) school wide culture
d) afterschool program

Teaching Artist Responsibilities and Job Description:

Project Bully Free Zone Teaching Artists are hired on a part time basis. In
addition to fulfilling their instructional responsibilities, PBZ Teaching
Artists are active members of the schools and after school sites where they
are assigned, in order to foster sustainable communities of safety and
empowerment. At present, there is potential growth with Project Bully Free
Zone, through opportunities to lead professional development, mentor new PBZ
staff and contribute to the development of the PBZ curriculum. PBZ Teaching
Artists:

- Attend bi-monthly meeting with PBZ program director

- Provide weekly online follow up support to school teachers

- Participate in ongoing communication with PBZ site coordinator and program
director

- Plan weekly lesson plans prior to facilitating workshops in schools and
after school site

- Create arts integrated projects, lessons, and activities with PBZ staff

- Document program effectiveness, student progress and lesson planning

- Meet with partner schools and sites on a monthly basis
