The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, "Music Center"
is a not-for-profit corporation organized to encourage and foster the
presentation of the arts at the Performing Arts Center complex. The
complex includes the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Mark Taper Forum,
the Ahmanson Theatre, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and is the home
for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, the Center Theatre Group,
the Los Angeles Opera Company, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and
Glorya Kaufman presents Dance at the Music Center. PACLAC manages the
Performing Arts Center complex on behalf of the County of Los Angeles,
which owns the facilities, and provides arts education services to
school children throughout Southern California. PACLAC also solicits
contributions to support its cultural and educational programs and to
fund expansion and improvements to the complex. For the fiscal year
ending June 30, 2012 PACLAC recognized approximately $49 million in
Earned Revenue and Public Support and had approximately $41 million in
Assets.

The Music Center has an immediate opening for a Prospect Researcher.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Prospect
Researcher is responsible for all aspects of development research for
the Music Center. This position plays a key role in supporting the
fundraising efforts of the organization by establishing itself as the
go-to source for all prospect information for development officers,
institutional leadership, and the board. Acting as a true partner to
the frontline fundraisers, the central focus of the Prospect Researcher
is to equip advancement staff with data which will yield results. As a
critical member of the advancement team, this position works to meet
established dollar targets and membership goals.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Research individual, corporate, and foundation prospects using a
wide variety of external and internal resources such as the in-house
database (Tessitura), hard files, subscription services as well as
public and government websites
* Analyze data and interpret the results to assess financial
capacity, philanthropic interests, and the affinity to the Music Center
to help move the prospect through the development process
* Produce clear, accurate, and relevant prospect profiles ranging
from event bios to in-depth board research
* Collaborate with frontline fundraisers to establish a "hot
list" of prospects for proactive ongoing research
* Establish a system to keep the entire development team abreast of
relevant news items as they relate to the fundraising efforts of the
Music Center
* Enter all research findings into the internal donor database,
inputting data into the appropriate fields, following the established
guidelines
* Develop close working relationships with staff in other
departments, such as Finance and Founders
* Other duties as required

Required skills and qualifications include:

· Bachelor's degree required, master's degree
preferred

· 4+ years of experience in non-profit prospect research

· Thorough understanding of major gifts fundraising processes
and strategies

· Experience researching individual as well as institutional
prospects

· Knowledge of current research methodologies and high
proficiency with standard tools such as LexisNexis, WealthEngine, and
others

· Demonstrated working with data in wide variety of formats,
including Excel, Access, and any of the common donor databases such as
Tessitura, Millennium, or Raiser's Edge

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
with competing priories and deadlines

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a
high-paced environment

· Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to communicate
effectively across different audiences
