Macy. The festival also held the Los Angeles premiere of "The Great New Wonderful," by
director Danny Leiner and starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Edie Falco, Tony Shalhoub and Olympia Dukakis. Julie Delpy and Rob Nilsson were honored with Spirit of Silver Lake Awards for career achievement in independent cinema.

The 2007 annual Silver Lake Film Festival will present an expanded MP4Fest, the digital content program that debuted at the 2006 festival. Also returning in an expanded format is MusicFest, the festival's music documentary and live-musical performance program.

FESTIVAL BACKGROUND

Before there was even a Hollywood, film pioneers, such as D.W. Griffith, Walt Disney, Tom Mix and Mack Sennett, established their homes and studios in Silver Lake and its neighboring communities of Echo Park and Los Feliz. Today, the area is home to the highest
concentration of contemporary filmmakers in the world. Surrounded on all sides by the major Hollywood studios, greater Silver Lake remains an oasis of innovation.

Silver Lake Film Festival proudly embraces the work of alternative filmmakers. Indeed, non-mainstream and experimental film and video -- features, shorts and documentaries -- are the festival's focus. The primary programming goal is to provide access to films that would not necessarily be available to the public. A portion of each year's programming line-up is reserved to showcase the distinctively alternative style of local filmmakers.

The 7th annual Silver Lake Film Festival is under the direction of Kate Marciniak, Greg Ptacek and Saskia Wilson-Brown. For more information, visit http://www.silverlakefilmfestival.org.
