Call for Submissions

Microcosmic: Los Angeles at the
Center of the Universe is a group show, which will be held at the Bridge
Gallery at Los Angeles City Hall. This exhibition will feature artists with
disabilities from across Los Angeles County in order to promote the Special
Olympics World Games Arts Festival, which will take place in Los Angeles during
the summer of 2015. The exhibition will be curated by Studio Artist Douglas
Allen and Gallery Manager Seth Pringle of Tierra del Sol Fine Arts.
This
exhibition is presented by The Special Olympics World Games, The Tierra del Sol
Foundation and The Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.

Eligibility
This Call for Submissions is open to any
artist with a disability who l­­ives and/or works in Los Angeles County,
California.

Work
- 2 dimensional, wall display work only.
- All media accepted as long as the work
can be hung from a wall.
- Dimensions (including frame) can be no
larger than: width-48", height-60" and depth-4".
- Any work that is accepted for the
exhibition must be professionally mounted and framed (exceptions include works
on stretched canvas, which are at least 1.5" in depth or photographic/digital
prints which are professionally mounted).
- All works must include a hanging device
attached to the back (hanging wire or cleat, no sawtooth hangers).
- The Exhibition Curators and DCA Curator
reserve the right to withhold from the exhibition any artwork that is delivered
without proper hanging equipment or professionally presented framing/display
materials.

Entry Materials
- There is NO ENTRY FEE.
- Completed Entry Form. (email Seth Pringle at springle@tierradelsol.org to request an entry form)

- Each artist may submit up to 3
individual works for consideration.
- Send submissions via email to
springle@tierradelsol.org.
- Each work should be submitted as a high
resolution jpg (300dpi) with a file size of no larger than 5"x7" and
no larger than 2 megabytes per file. Files should be labeled with artist's first
and last name and an entry number that corresponds to the completed Entry Form
(example: janejohnson.entry1.jpg)

Notification
- All applicants will be notified no
later than May 20th, 2013 via email whether their work has been accepted into
the exhibition.

Liability
- All reasonable care will be taken with
accepted artwork, however neither The Bridge Gallery nor The Tierra del Sol
Foundation nor their representatives will be held responsible for loss or
damage of artwork from the time of drop-off of work to the time of pick-up of accepted
work.

Requirements
- To participate in the exhibition, all
artists must make arrangements for the drop-off and pick-up of accepted work at
the dates and times stated above at the following location:

- All submitting artists must provide a
valid email address for correspondence/notification.
- All submitting artists must fill out,
sign and submit an Entry Form (email Seth Pringle at springle@tierradelsol.org to request an entry form). Scanned PDFs of the
completed Entry Form should be submitted via email at the same time as the jpgs
of artwork submissions.
- All accepted artworks must remain in
the gallery for the full duration of the exhibition.
