COMMUNITY LIAISON
The Ford Theatre Foundation seeks dynamic arts professionals to serve as part-time Community Liaisons with extensive knowledge of and connections within one or more cultural communities of Los Angeles County to join its Community Bridges team. These cultural communities include but are not exclusive to African, African American, Asian Pacific Islander, Latino and South American. Serving as an ambassador of the Ford, the Community Liaison will utilize his/her community relationships to strategize and implement best methods to increase participation from those communities in Ford programming.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of direct professional experience working with performing artists, producers, audiences and media. The ideal candidate will share the Ford's passion and commitment to diversity and will come to the table with fresh ideas and new perspectives on increasing participation at the Ford by artists who represent or make work within a particular cultural paradigm. Knowledge of and experience in arts presenting and production necessary.

ANTICIPATED ACTIVITIES
• Research, identify and encourage performing artists, arts organizations, and producers who have not produced at the Ford to apply for the Ford's Artist Partnership Program
• Inform targeted communities of Ford opportunities through festivals and informational presentations
• Build relationships between the Ford and artists, producers, community leaders, audiences and media
• Develop and carry out projects to strengthen awareness and participation in Ford programming
• Shepherd applicants through initial stages of the Ford partnership program

COMPENSATION
This is a part-time employee position, with activities expected to take place between April-October 2013. Specific activities and compensation will be determined through discussion with the selected candidate. Payment of $20 per hour for up to 240 hours in the contracted time period is expected.

BACKGROUND
The John Anson Ford Theatres complex, one of the oldest performing arts venues in Los Angeles still in use, includes the open air Ford Amphitheatre and intimate indoor [Inside] the Ford theatre. Since its creation in 1994, the Ford Theatre Foundation, in close partnership with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, has enhanced the cultural vitality of the region by supporting programs that celebrate and reflect the diversity of Los Angeles. Since its launch in 2001 and with primary funding from the James Irvine Foundation, the Community Bridges program supports activities that harness the strength and richness of Los Angeles' multiple cultural identities.
