Coordinator, Youth Orchestra LA

Founded in 1919, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's mission is to perform, present, and promote music in its varied forms at the highest level of excellence to a diverse and large audience, both at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is dedicated to continuing its pre-eminent status in the music world of the 21st century.

Position Summary:
Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) is the Los Angeles Philharmonic's initiative to establish several youth orchestra programs in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles. The Philharmonic also acts as a convener for other organizations (stakeholders) across the County who are interested in igniting a youth orchestra movement. The YOLA Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supporting all activities and programs related to the YOLA initiative, including but not limited to: the establishment and support of the operations of youth orchestra programs, planning and implementation of regional convenings and international symposia, building and sustaining YOLA's national presence, and the evaluation, documentation and assessment of the program.

Position Elements:
• Providing logistical support for YOLA programs, meetings, concerts, site visits, events, and field trip
• Managing production and logistics for YOLA and Take a Stand conferences
• Developing and implementing systems to document and market the program through video, photography, collateral materials
• Creating content for and implementing the dissemination of the YOLA e-Newsletter
• Developing YOLA content for marketing materials; coordinating assessment, evaluation, and documentation
• Updating news, events, and information for the Education and YOLA pages on the LA Phil website
• Creating systems to organize YOLA repertoire, schedules, and calendars
• Fielding daily inquiries about YOLA and El Sistema
• Coordinating YOLA site visits and tours
• Develop and maintain strong and supportive relationships with teaching artists, community partners, and stakeholders
• Supporting the design and implementation of teaching artist professional development
• Supporting program assessment and evaluation efforts, including data collection
• Assisting with professional development efforts related to teaching artist training.
• Other projects and duties as assigned, which could include but are not limited to assisting LA Phil Program Managers as needed, supporting company-wide educational and community engagement initiatives & related communications, pre-concert and concert duty

Position Requirements:
• A minimum of two years of experience working in the field of arts administration
• Strong desktop computer skills (business professional level) and excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excels under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
• Passion for working in underserved communities
• Orchestral music knowledge
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Experience working with teaching artists, parents, and young musicians
• Detail oriented
• Ability to work with diverse personalities
• Able to work cooperatively in a small workplace environment
• Positive attitude, flexible
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed
• Spanish language proficiency preferred
