*Public Relations Intern @ Grand Performances
($8.75/hr; 30-40 hrs/weekly, June-August; involves nights and evenings)

A great opportunity for a media- and PR-savvy individual who loves
promoting music, culture and L.A.! Grand Performances
(GP), L.A.’s premiere
outdoor summer performing arts presenter, is looking for a PAID Public
Relations Intern for June-August 2012. GP is known for providing Angelenos
with FREE high-quality performances by world-renowned artists across all
genres, and our 26th summer will be no exception. But we need a highly
motivated intern to help us promote our season.

This is a paid internship located on Bunker Hill in Downtown L.A. The ideal
candidate can begin in early June and work 30-40 hours /week until
Saturday, August 25th. This position requires evening and weekend work.

Duties include:

- Updating & expanding (traditional and new) media distribution lists
and editorial calendars
- Writing proactive pitch letters and press releases; contacting and
liaising with press; assembling media kits
- Improving outreach to current GP stakeholders and identifying new
audiences, partners and collaborators
- Preparing collateral material for shows
- Season brochure and program distribution
- Working front-of-house at performances, including interacting with
patrons at information cart
- General administrative duties to support the Communications team

Required Qualifications:

- A background in public relations – school of prior internships
- Excellent written, proofreading and editorial skills
- Able to produce quality work with minimal supervision
- Can successfully engage others, both online and offline
- Multi-task and work well under deadlines
- Handle fast-paced environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Currently enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate at an accredited
institution

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience with Non-profit or start-ups
- Academic concentration on Public Relations or Marketing
- Fluent in Spanish
- Photoshop skills
