Raku: Origins, Impact, and Contemporary Expression
November 11, 2006-January 6, 2007

Pottery Market
Saturday, December 9, 2006, 12 noon-9 p.m.

AMOCA is soliciting work for two special events: first, for inclusion in our expanded Museum Shop during the span of our Raku exhibition, Nov. 11, 06-Jan. 6, 07, and second, for our one-day semi annual pottery market, Dec. 9, 06. We would like to invite you to submit digital samples of your work for consideration.

ELIGIBILITY (Please share this information with fellow ceramists)
Both opportunities are open to all local ceramists, both student and professional. The emphasis for the Pottery Market will be on small to mid-sized pieces, moderately priced (meaning under $500. Our best sellers are under $75.), with wide appeal, classified as either functional (bowls, cups, tea pots, etc.) or decorative (vessels,
masks, tiles, etc.). Pieces for the Museum shop, also moderately priced, must be raku. Non-functional is assumed; however, the pieces should still be described as vessel format or decorative - in other words, marketable to the general public, please.

COMMISSIONS
AMOCA's standard commission rate is 35%. Please take this into account when establishing the sale price. All proceeds go to benefit AMOCA's ceramic art education program. Customer information becomes the property of the museum.

The American Museum of Ceramic Art retains the right to display and reproduce images of work accepted for this exhibition for publicity, promotional, or educational purposes. AMOCA reserves the right to reject works deemed inappropriate for any reason. Please note, individual works are not covered by insurance.

VENUE DESCRIPTIONS:
Raku: Work accepted for exhibit will be displayed along the hallway at the rear of the museum, some in cabinets; some not, or on open stair-step displays on the north wall of the museum. There is room to hang some work.

Market: Work accepted for exhibit will be displayed along the museum's outdoor paseo. Tables and table covers will be provided. Volunteers will set up and sell the works. The Market will begin at noon with a juried competition, followed immediately by a ribbon award ceremony. In anticipation of the Saturday evening Art Walk audience,
AMOCA will stay open until 9 p.m. Based on the nature and price range of your work, you will be asked to bring anywhere from 6 to 36 pieces. You (or your representative) must hand deliver the work Friday, Dec.
8, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 9 before 10 a.m. If you would like to volunteer on the day of the market, please indicate your interest and the times you will be available in your e-mailed entry to us. If you are accepted, you will receive detailed instructions on how
