Jane Ortner Educating Through Music Awards deadline extended!
Attention K-12 public and private school teachers who integrate music
into your classroom curriculum! The GRAMMY Museum is excited to announce
the 2011/2012 Jane Ortner Educating Through Music Awards, honoring
teachers who use music as a way to teach content standards. Jane Ortner
was a devoted and beloved public school teacher who recognized the
critical importance of music in the education of students at all levels.
Through the generosity of the Ortner family, The GRAMMY Museum is
pleased to honor Jane Ortner's memory with the establishment of an
annual award that recognizes public and private school teachers, from
kindergarten through high school, who successfully incorporate music
into their classrooms.
The GRAMMY Museum will be accepting original elementary, middle and high
school curricula from August 15, 2011 until January 18, 2012. All
curricula will be judged by a panel of teachers and music industry
professionals based on creativity and teachability. The educator with
the best curriculum will win two tickets to the 2012 GRAMMY Awards as
well as a GRAMMY Museum admission scholarship for their class during the
2012 school year. For more information or to view last year's winning
