Job Opportunity @ The Autry: Exhibition Designer

The Autry seeks a motivated and creative Designer to join the Exhibits
Department for a 1-year, limited-term position. You will be an integral
member of the department, working on a variety of projects, including
print pieces, environmental signage, and 3-dimensional graphics and
environments.

Responsibilities
The Designer works closely with project teams to develop, manage, and
maintain the immediate and sustained value of the visitor experience.
He/She will develop changing exhibition and permanent collection
materials in a method that supports the best in experiential learning
and communication design.

Essential functions include: collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
for exhibit development; prepare design visuals to communicate creative
concepts to team members and executives; design, detail, and coordinate
production & installation of exhibition furniture & graphics; advocate
for visitor needs in all aspects of exhibit design.

Qualifications
A BA in design, studio arts, or museum studies is required as well as
2-4 years of design experience. Must be fluent in the Adobe Creative
Suite and Vectorworks, and be experienced working with vendors on
graphics and furniture production. Should be comfortable sketching by
hand, building physical models, and using Sketch-Up or Rhino for design
development. Should have an understanding of environmental signage and
ADA or Universal design.
