METRO EXPO LINE: Farmdale Station
New public art opportunity.

Artists are invited to submit qualifications for art opportunities at Farmdale Station on the Metro Expo Line, which is currently under construction. This is an ideal opportunity for both emerging and established artists with a background in any two-dimensional media and a desire to expand their studio practice to include public art. Previous public art experience is not a requirement for this project.

Artwork locations include 24 art panels at station entry gateway arches and over seating modules on the station platform. Designated fabrication materials include glass mosaic, ceramic mosaic and porcelain tile. The budget for the design and fabrication of artwork is $157,000. The artist's fee will be $25,120, an amount representing 16% of the station artwork budget.

California based professional artists with the exception of artists currently under contract with Metro or artists who have completed a permanent public art commission for Metro within the past three years are eligible for this project.

Hard copy submittals must be received by 5:00 PM on Monday, August 23, 2010.
For information regarding submittal requirements, visit http://www.metro.net/about/art/artist-opportunities or call 213.922.4ART.
