The *Bootleg Dance Festival* is presented by Bootleg Theater to use its
excellent venue to promote and present the work of exciting choreographers
in Los Angeles County. *The Bootleg Dance Festival* seeks applicants from a
full range of styles, cultures, and approaches that represent contemporary
dance in the world today.

Bootleg is a 1930’s warehouse and a home for Los Angeles artists who work in
theater, music, dance, and film. Bootleg provides artistic support and
production resources to help these artists create original and daring
interdisciplinary work. Combining art forms creates work that is surprising,
unexpected, exciting and reflective of life in Los Angeles, a city where the
boundaries are elastic, and not bound by tradition. Bootleg offers Los
Angeles a celebration of itself.

*Eligibility Requirements:*

- Choreographers/choreographic collaborations who have produced and
presented their own choreography in a non-student context.
- Applicants must be a resident of Los Angeles County, have lived in Los
Angeles County for at least one year, and have produced choreographic work
in Los Angeles County.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Full-time students are not eligible

*Project Description:*

- *Presentation* – Artists are expected to create and present a
half-evening (30-45 minutes) of new, original work. The evening will be
shared with another choreographer/choreographic collaboration.

*Selected artists will receive the following:*

- *Commission Fee:* Selected artists will receive a commissioning fee of
$500. There will also be a performance honorarium of $300.
- *Rehearsal space* will be provided, subject to time and budget
constraints
- *Marketing/PR* will be provided by Bootleg. The Festival will be
marketed to the press, as well as in Bootleg’s own publicity materials
- *Tech Production support* will be provided including lighting design,
overall technical direction, and light and sound operators. Lighting,
sound, masking, and sprung dance floor, as owned by Bootleg, will be
provided. A reasonable attempt will be made to accommodate any special
needs, subject to time and budget constraints. An individual tech
meeting will be set 4 weeks prior to your show date.
- *In house production support *will be provided by Bootleg staff
