Job: Collections Manager at The Wende Museum (Los Angeles)

THE WENDE MUSEUM was founded in 2002 to ensure that a comprehensive record of life, expression, and political developments in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union during the Cold War is preserved and accessible. Located in Culver City, CA, the Wende actively acquires and conserves artifacts, personal histories, and documentary materials, presents exhibitions and programs, and promotes scholarship and education. COLLECTIONS MANAGER oversees documentation, preservation, and supervision of the Wende's diverse collection, which includes over 100,000 artifacts and documents. S/he acts as administrator for the collections database, and develops, implements, and evaluates registration procedures and practices to conform with best museum practices. S/he ensures that the collection is physically and electronically accessible for all purposes, and directly oversees preparations for lending.

Requirements:
--3-5 years of collections management experience with a broad-based collection
--Advanced degree in museum studies with a focus in collections management and broad knowledge of professional museum standards
--Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrated organizational, communications, and problem-solving skills
--Knowledge of German highly desirable and research interest/experience in Wende Museum related fields preferred
