Alexandria Yalj -self producing performance artist with an MFA in
choreography from CalArts. If she is not chasing the sun regardless of
direction, she's probably diligently coordinating Los Angeles's, Dance
Camera West Film Festival. As artistic director of Collective Movement,
Alexandria has had the extreme pleasure in forming a pick up dance company
that embodies an organically radical approach to choreography. Her unique
choreographic works haven been presented in her native New York City as well
as New Hamp shire, Fresno City College, Pepperdine University, Berkshire
Fringe Festival and here in Los Angeles. A current company member of Rosanna
Gamson World Wide and Stephan Koplowitz's international site specific
touring company TaskForce, Alexandria is constantly searching for new
approaches to expression and communication capacity of the body.

This class is generously offered MiMoDa Studio Theatre, whose mission is to
provide a platform to facilitate artists in using non-standard dance and
movement styles in order to take dance beyond traditional applications and
common trends. This mission's aim is to raise Los Angeles' reputation within
the dance world to that of a place for innovation and the creation of
exciting new works.

Housed in the renovated site formerly known as The Dancers' Studio, this
space brings a new creative spirit to t he arts of dance, acting, theatrical
mime, and an original improvisational movement method called Mimoda.

This hub of artistic activity will offer a space for physical theatre
artists to teach and learn, explore and create, perform and share.
