Watercolor Demo with Artist Ruth Ellen Hoag this Sunday Dec. 16th

This Sunday from 1pm until 5pm is the last demo accompanying the 2012 Watercolor West Juried Exhibition. Join artist Ruth Ellen Hoag as she demonstrates how she creates paintings that explore the human experience. Ruth Ellen Hoag is a signature member of WW, SDWS, and an AWS medal winner. She works in the figurative genre to explore the human experience. Whether it’s the activity of dancers in motion, or those in contemplative mode, she chooses her palette to suit the mood in order to show what something feels like conveyed in paint. She is presenting ideas about how she creates her award-winning paintings. The seminar is $25 and is held at the City of Brea Art Gallery. Richard Martinez holds an M.A. in Art from Claremont Graduate School. His art career began when he received scholarships to Chouinard’s Art Institute and University of Guanajuato. He has worked with greats like Millard Sheets, Robert E. Wood and Milford Zornes, recently serving as a curator for the Zorne’s birthday art show. Rich is a Watercolor West Signature Artist and has participated in national and international shows. He is presenting ideas about how he creates his award-winning paintings. Adult Oil Painting: Cupcakes AND Jim Millard Demo

In this workshop, students will learn about painting cupcakes and sweets, texture and composition. The instructor is Daryl Gortner. Ages 14 and up are welcome. The 3-day workshop is on three consecutive Tuesday evenings, November 6, 13, and 20th, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.All materials, supplies and canvas are included in the $85 fee. All skill levels are welcome; individual attention will be given to each student. The paints used for this workshop are non-toxic, water-mixable oil paints.
