The Van Eyck seeks a new Director to start on September 1, 2018. The new Director is expected to proceed from the existing strategy of the international post-academic institute in an inspired and inspiring way, while at the same time exploring new possibilities for increased depth and scope.

The Van Eyck is situated in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and enjoys a significant international reputation. The institute fulfils a unique role in stimulating artists and developing their talents. As a multidisciplinary institute, it has an annual capacity for some 40 participants (visual artists, curators, authors, poets, designers, architects). Participants have the time and space to continue development of their work and to take part in collaborative Van Eyck projects. They form the core of the academy.

The Van Eyck is structured as a multiple institute. It consists of the Jan van Eyck Academie, The Hubert van Eyck Academie, Van Eyck Mirror and Van Eyck Services. The mutual dynamics of these constituent institutes determines the character and the quality of the Van Eyck.

The Director will be capable of fluently coordinating the content, policy and income of the institute. The appointee will possess relevant networks, international as well as national, in the various quarters of the art world, and will function as the connecting motivator and initiator of opportunities and projects that will benefit the Van Eyck and its participants. Cultivating a stimulating working climate that brings out the best in participants and institute staff is a core task for the new Director.
