The Department of Art at the University of California, Irvine, seeks to appoint a new colleague specializing in photography who will complement and extend the research interests of current members of the faculty. We are seeking an artist with a significant record of highly impactful artistic accomplishments. Candidates with expansive approaches to photographic practice and/or knowledge of cultural or critical theory are encouraged to apply. The new faculty member will play a key role in the Department’s effort to reimagine its photography curriculum in light of continuing changes in media technologies and culture. Level of appointment will be within the Assistant Professor rank. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2017, with teaching responsibilities commencing in September 2017.

The successful candidate should demonstrate teaching ability in photography-related production techniques at the undergraduate level and possess the versatility to teach in a diverse interdisciplinary graduate program, as well as share in departmental service duties.

Qualifications
An MFA degree or equivalent professional experience is required by the time of appointment. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable.

4. A description of teaching philosophy

In addition, applicants must submit a portfolio of up to 20 images and other media samples to: ctsa.slideroom.com. There is a fee associated with submission of materials.
