The State University of New York College at Old Westbury is accepting applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Sculpture to commence Fall 2017. The candidate will be teaching both foundation courses and upper division studio and Electronic Media courses to a culturally diverse student body. Experience with digital fabrication: CNC routers, 3D printing, and laser cutters as well as traditional shop machinery such as woodworking and welding equipment is required. Studio experience in drawing, sculpture, 2D and 3D design, as well as experience in digital foundations is needed. Teaching the foundation courses requires experience in preparing students in art theory, critical discourse practice and contemporary art. The candidate will participate in department meetings and advise students. Service to the College through committee work is expected. The candidate is also expected to continue research, publications and exhibitions. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree required.

• College teaching experience required.

• Experience teaching foundation courses required.

• Studio experience in drawing, sculpture, 2D and 3D design, as well as experience in digital foundations.

• Proficiency in working with digital fabrication and Electronic Media required.

• Proficiency in working with traditional shop machinery required.

• Strong record of exhibitions required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Terminal degree preferred.

• Experience teaching upper division studio courses.

• Experience teaching a culturally diverse undergraduate student population.
