Freewaves is launching a new series called Dis…Miss, a multi-genre, public visual art experience, with media and performing arts components, addressing fantasies and realities of gender polarization in local and mass media. The series features commissioned works from 20 outstanding L.A. visual artists. Launching with 25 video pieces, works also include postcards, posters, signage, billboards, and performances. Through this initiative, Freewaves hopes to open new avenues of thought and stimulate dialogue on inter-gender relationships.

Currently, Freewaves is seeking Intern participation to undertake a variety of tasks, all entailing a high degree of computer literacy and communications competency. All of the tasks will be part of Freewaves long time initiative to disseminate the new media arts, on this year’s theme of women and gender issues, as well as Freewaves’ interactive video archive consisting of over 500 pieces of experimental media art.

This position is part-time and UNPAID but we will provide you with college credit, if applicable.

Location: Both internships are located at Freewaves’ office at LACE (6522 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood CA)
