THE BLANK THEATRE, LEAD PRODUCER Job Opening

POSITION: Lead Producer will work closely with the Artistic Director and will be responsible for the overall management of all Productions and The Blank’s Annual Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival. The Producer will also support the running of The Blank’s new play development program, The Living Room Series, with the Artistic Committee and LRS Associate Producer. Part time to full time position with some flexibility. Occasional evening/weekend hours required.

OPPORTUNITY: To produce award-winning, first-rate, groundbreaking theatre in Hollywood. To develop and produce 50 new plays a year. To be the catalyst to established artists as well as new and emerging ones. To develop relationships with many highly talented sought after artists. To help grow The Blank Theatre, an award-winning non-profit theatre production organization, through supporting the Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinating and managing all productions of the mainstage season including the LRS Plus program; Manage the production budgets as created by you and the AD; Planning and executing a detailed production schedule; Hiring and supervising all directors, designers and crew. Organizing and leading production meetings; Coordinating with and supporting the director and designers. Recruiting, hiring and supervising a team of volunteers and interns; Being available throughout pre-production and show performances to deal with matters that may arise. Collaborating with the AD and Casting Directors on casting; Overseeing the load-in and strike of the set and all technical elements; Collaborating with the AD and Marketing Director on ticket sales, marketing, social media and fundraising. Supporting The Living Room Series and the Artistic Committee. Being the key manager in the running of the office as well as the theatre and supporting the Board of Directors.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Minimum BA/BS university degree; Excellent management and communication skills; Superb problem solving skills; Attention to detail. Experience in and capacity to lead, train, manage, and motivate staff and volunteers; Self motivation with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously; Previous arts management and theatre production experience. General office administration and computer skills including MS Outlook, Excel and Word. Social Media understanding and savvy. Experience working with small budgets; Familiarity with the LA theatre community; Passion for the arts and the theatre community. Non-profit theatre experience.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
