Learn all aspects of working with a non-profit artsorganization, and assist in designing and implementing Artist-In-Residenceprograms for at-risk youth from start to finish.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:This internship offers the chance to take a hands-on role in the coordinationof performing arts education programming in a vibrant non-profit organizationwith a 28-year history of success. By the end of the internship, the Program Intern will better understandthe role of the arts in the communities, and how to design and implementstandards-based quality performing arts education programming. The ProgramIntern (PI) will assist the Program Director and Program Coordinator incoordinating Youth First Artist-In-Residence Programs and Youth FirstMeet-The-Artist Presentations. These will be comprised of interactivedemonstrations, workshops, and classes. The PI will gain experience in fielding inquiries from clients andcommunicating with teaching artists regarding program logistics. The PI willparticipate in staff meetings and contribute to the completion of variousprojects. The PI will also be expected to integrate within the full range ofTheatre Of Hearts activities, including, but not limited to: fundraising,administration and outreach efforts. PLEASE NOTE: This is aprogram/administrative position, NOT a teaching position.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be over 18 years of age andresiding in Los Angeles County. Must have car, current valid CA driver’slicense, and be able to pass a background check. Candidates are welcome fromall areas of study and are not required to have demonstrated a previouscommitment to the arts, but the ideal candidate is currently pursuing a careerin arts education or administration. Excellent interpersonal, verbal andwriting skills required. Fluency with Mac OS X 10,Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Social Media required. Familiarity withWord Press and FileMaker Pro preferred. Be organized, punctual, detail-oriented, and have the ability tomulti-task.
