Call for Artists: New Residency Opportunity at Khmer Arts Academy

THE KHMER ARTS ACADEMY is pleased to announce new residencyopportunities
at our Cambodia Town studio in Long Beach. Performing artists of all
disciplines areencouraged to apply for two inaugural residencies
available September throughNovember 2013. During that time,resident
artists will have access to the studio free of charge and, inexchange,
are required to:

- Provide a monthly one-hour workshop to KhmerArts Academy students
following their Saturday classes;

- Participate in a public panel midway through theprogram with
other artists in-residence;

- Share their work through an informal publicpresentation at the
end of the residency period.

Limitations to consider before applying include:

- Studio availability is Monday through Wednesday,9 AM to 7 PM,
Thursday and Friday 9 AM to 3 PM.

- Artists may have up to five hours per week inthe studio.

- For dancers, the floor is marley on top ofcarpet and concrete

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the studio andmeet with
associate artistic director Prumsodun Ok beforehand. To apply, please

with"Fall 2013 Residency" in the
subject line:

- A proposal of no more than two pages detailing thegoals of the
residency

- A one-page biography highlighting artistictraining and
professional experience.

- Links to two audio/video samples; please notethat we will not
review more than 10 minutes.

- Up to five miscellaneous images (performancedocumentation, video
stills, press clippings, etc).

Following the Fall 2013 residencies, new artists inresidence will be
chosen on a quarterly basis. Please indicate in your email if you are
interested in lateropportunities.

The application deadline is July 25, 2013.
