Hours: Part-time (25-30 hours per week/schedule may vary) Salary Range: $13.50 - $15.00/hr

A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth center in South Central Los Angeles. APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, and fitness opportunities. As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them. Our goal is to increase the likelihood that youth will stay in school, pursue higher education, attain viable jobs, and become active citizens capable of making positive change in the world in which they live. SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, screens, and supervises volunteers and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions within the organization to help strengthen public or private programs and to involve a community of supporters by performing the following duties:

• Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards and values at all times
• Visit local schools to educate students/faculty/staff on programs and activities at APCH to promote volunteer opportunities and local partnerships/collaborations
• Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization
• Recruit, interview, and place applicants for volunteer work
• Facilitate and/or coordinator volunteer training
• Review written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate performance
• Inform volunteers of policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
• Confer with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest – Inform APCH management
• Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs
• Maintain accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation
• Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner at all times
• Assist with special events
• Mentor through actions and behavior in observing dress code, language, and team support

Education/Training/Experience
Degree: Bachelor of Arts or equivalent
6 – 12 months experience in coordinating and/or managing volunteers

Physical and Mental Demands
• Able to work in chaotic and high noise level environment typical of a youth center
• Walking, standing, required on daily basis
• Lift up to 20 pounds regularly
• Speech and hearing within normal ranges; speech clarity sufficient for standard face to face and telephone communications
• Type 40WPM
