Special Events Coordinator

LA Opera has an exciting opportunity available for a qualified Special Events Coordinator who will assist in the planning and execution of the company's event calendar. The Special Events Coordinator's responsibilities include both event planning and administrative support. Event planning duties include but are not limited to preparing for galas and corporate and foundation events and coordinating needs for LA Opera's two support groups - HLAO (Hispanics for LA Opera) and ARIA (LA Opera's Young Professional support group). Additional activities include maintaining guest and member lists, executing invitations and mailings, preparing signage, vendor coordination, event supervision, promotional activities, and scheduling. Administrative duties include but are not limited to heavy phone interaction with donors and the Board of Directors, preparation of name tags and signage, maintaining files and invoices, and calendar updates.

The ideal candidate will have prior special events and non-profit industry experience, strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel), strong database skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. A flexible schedule to work evening and weekend events as needed is a must.
