Artwork Guidelines
• Celebrate the vision of Venice's founder, Abbot Kinney and of the community's colorful history. Conceived in the "Venetian Renaissance" style, the nearly completed "Venice of America" opened on July 4, 1905. In 1911, the community officially changed its name from Ocean Park to Venice, and in 1925, Venice was annexed by the City of Los Angeles. Today, it remains one of Los Angeles' premiere tourist destinations.

• Communicate visually compelling imagery designed to celebrate the community of Venice, its vibrant creativity, its dynamic and multifaceted nature, and its unique qualities, past and present. For historical reference, visit http://www.westland.net/venicehistory/histart.html and http://veniceofamerica.org/

• Visually articulate the spirit of Venice and the dynamic festive, community celebration that the Abbot Kinney Festival has become.

• Should be appropriate and useful for promotional purposes (selected artwork may be reproduced in various ways (e.g., banners, advertising, Internet, t-shirts, etc.).

• A separate adaptation for t-shirts is appreciated. The goal is to incorporate poster design elements with festival information to make an attractive t-shirt using a maximum of four colors and to avoid a square, rubbery "poster stamped on a t-shirt" look.
