Know Your Server attempts to show the audience member that throughout
Los Angeles, one is surrounded by aspiring artists, musicians, and most
importantly, dreamers in disguise. With high rent and living conditions
in the City of Angels, and living in a time with little federal funding
for public works projects to keep artists employed, artists of any
medium must spend most of their time working one or many service jobs.
They are your baristas, your waiters, your sales associates by day; by
night they create art. This project will show one artistic work from 100
different Artists along with a photograph of them in their work
environment to juxtapose the vision and creativity of the artist with
the reality of their day-to-day life interacting with the public. The
project will also comment on human interactions, social hierarchy, and
the cultural implications and consequences of modern day `working
artists'.

We are currently in Stage 1 of this project; we are collecting work to
review and place in the show. We are looking for artists of any medium,
including musicians, actors, writers, and any within a creative
discipline. You -must- be working a public service job, as well as be
comfortable with us photographing one picture of you in your workplace.
We will be in touch with our progress; though this project will have
exhibitions eventually, it may not be in 2011. You will retain rights to
all work submitted, as well as potentially mark and sell them at the
exhibitions for Know Your Server.
