Pratt Institute is seeking a Chairperson for its historic Art and Design
Education (ADE) program that is housed in the School of Art and Design. In
the ADE program, teaching art and design is viewed as a creative process
modeled upon studio work. See attached job description:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Built upon Charles Pratt’s original vision, Pratt Institute has been
preparing teachers since it opened its doors in 1887. Fostered and developed
for the past thirty years by Dr. Amy Brook Snider, the Department of Art and
Design Education seeks exceptional applicants for the position of
Chairperson. Ideal candidates will have the experience and vision to assume
the academic and administrative leadership of the department, building upon
its rich programmatic ground. The Department is located on Pratt's historic
25-acre landscaped campus in the culturally diverse neighborhood of Clinton
Hill, Brooklyn. This administrative appointment carries a twelve-month per
year workload and a three-year renewable contract.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the chair will include: oversight of budget and
course scheduling; curriculum development, program reviews and assessment;
recruitment of faculty and students; participation in fundraising and
development; and establishment of linkages with relevant professional
organizations and leading practitioners.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications:
We require an earned doctorate in a related field (ABD considered); at least
five years’ administrative management experience, preferably in higher
education; a minimum of five years’ college level teaching experience; and
recognized standing in the field. Applicants must have proven achievement in
