CLAREMONT GRADUATE UNIVERSITY
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Visiting Position in Arts Management

The Masters in Arts Management Program of Claremont Graduate University,
the only program of its kind in California, seeks an outstanding artist,
arts manager or academic who is a thought leader in the field for a
visiting appointment in arts management in 2011 - 2012. This is a
special opportunity for a practitioner or scholar in the field to create
a residency or project of their own design that will invigorate the more
than 40 students in the Arts Management program. The appointment may be
part-time (one semester) or full time (both semesters) based on the
proposal submitted. It is anticipated that the visiting artist, arts
manager or scholar will teach a practicum, in addition to conducting
research or work that will further his or her own practice working in
conjunction with the graduate students in the program. The successful
candidate will be expected to advise and mentor arts management students
relative to their careers and issues in the art world. Activities may
also include special seminars or colloquia and participation in
department and university functions. However, it is expected that the
selected candidate will play a key role in shaping the specific
activities that will constitute the residency.

For further information about the Arts Management Program, visit our Web

Preference will be given to candidates who are nationally or
internationally recognized in their field and have crossed boundaries of
discipline or have developed new models in their work. Candidates should
have advanced degrees or a substantial body of work as a practitioner in
their field. Teaching experience at the graduate level/executive level
is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to make their
intellectual contributions accessible to both graduate students and
experienced nonprofit managers. Faculty members on sabbatical are
encouraged to apply. Members of underrepresented minorities are
especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants should submit a letter explaining why this position is of
particular interest and how it will influence both their work and the
field, c.v., and a list of three references with noted past
relationships; at least one of these references should address teaching
or mentoring abilities. In addition, responders may submit a proposed
