The SMASH HIT play, ELEVATOR, is seeking an artist to paint/construct our marquee at our new home, Theatre Asylum. We have an empty canvas and it is ALL YOURS...The challenge: Come up with the design for our title, one word:

ELEVATOR

Come up with the most creative design for ELEVATOR and, if your design is chosen, your art will be displayed on the marquee at Theatre Asylum for our entire 10 week run. That's a FREE 3 ft. x 18 ft. ART DISPLAY on Santa Monica Blvd. for 10 weeks. Your audience and potential fan base includes every car that stops at Santa Monica and Vine, all patrons of Theatre Row including all ELEVATOR patrons (82 seat house, 4 shows per weekend) and patrons for the 3 other theaters located on the same corner. You will be a featured artist in our Lobby and multimedia space as well.

If you'd like to take a look at the marquee space in person, Theatre Asylum is located at 6320 Santa Monica Blvd. 90038. For more information on the show, visit www.elevatortheplay.com.

Please email submissions to elevatorartists@gmail.com. Please submit a graphic/drawing/sketch/photograph and any artist background information. We will take into consideration design, budget, and use of display. Some restrictions may apply per zoning requirements.

Good luck and we look forward to seeing your work!

Sincerely,

An 11:11 Experiment

ELEVATOR, written and directed by Michael Leoni , with original music by Mario Marchetti , is based on the original short film, "Someplace In Between," (an Official Selection of the 2009 LA Shorts Film Festival).

When seven strangers get stuck in an elevator, it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out. Laced with musical sequences and a cinematic style, ELEVATOR is a comedic and emotional ride into the human psyche.

A CEO Woman, Business Man, Office Temp, Hot Girl, Musician, Maintenance Man and Goth Girl; When forced together, given nothing but four walls and each other, these archetypes prove to be anything but "typical." Their preconceived notions, stereotypes and judgments are challenged at every turn, as one by one they shed their masks and reveal their truths.

ELEVATOR asks the fundamental question: Who are you behind closed doors?
