Silver Lake Electrical Box Mural Project:: 9/30 proposal submissions

AMP's picture

The Silver Lake Arts & Culture Committee is organizing an electrical box mural project in Silver Lake.
What is an electrical box, you say? Why, they are the large gray boxes on street corners that house lots of wires and make things work.
Monotonous, indeed, but when painted:

:they can be really interesting.

So, here's the deal.
If you're interested in being included in this first round, the deadline for proposal submissions is September 30. The committee will be choosing the 15 proposals for the 15 available boxes at the next official meeting, the second Tuesday in October.
Again, there are 15 boxes.
Each artist does 1 box.
Mock ups can be a photoshop collage, drawing, painting etc. something simple to give us an idea of what you are going to do.

***Materials/Supplies for this project will be funded by the neighborhood council, pending approval of funds***

There are several ways to start brainstorming:

Interested in a specific location? See the box locations below.
Want to collaborate with a local writer to include poetry and writing in your mural? We have some that are interested and can hook you up.
Want to propose some sort of community project instead of an actual mock up? Send in a proposal with a description of your project.
