MAK Center for Art and Architecture Seeks Programs Coordinator

The MAK Center at the Schindler House in West Hollywood, California seeks a highly organized, responsible assistant with arts administration experience to work alongside the MAK Center Director and Programs Manager in all tasks and projects that define the scope of the MAK Center's activities.

Duties include:
Assist with the organization and realization of exhibitions, lecture series, fund-raising events, the residency program at the Mackey Apartments and community outreach. Attend and assist all MAK Center programs.

Manage membership and mailing list database. Working with mailing house, oversee promotional mailings to increase membership and all mass mailings such as event announcements and press releases.

Work with the press consultant to promote MAK Center programs through preparing and mailing press materials to publicity resources. Attend to press follow-up, catalogue and archive press clips.

Perform office administrative duties such as greeting visitors, answering the phone, checking the general voicemail for messages, seeing to mailings, sending out email announcements, updating the calendar, updating the web site, drafting business letters, making appointments and scheduling travel arrangements. On a daily basis, open up the Schindler House to the public, turn on exhibitions, and ensure that house is in a presentable state.

Qualifications:
Successful applicant must be self-motivated and able to contribute to a busy, non-profit office. Strong written, verbal and visual skills are required with careful attention to detail. Must be able to juggle a wide array of projects simultaneously and serve as a courteous representative to the public. Direct experience working for an arts organization preferred. Facility with computer programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, FileMaker Pro and Macintosh-based graphics applications required.

This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours.
