Call to Artists: ReVisions '10 to Premiere on EARTH DAY

As some of you may know, the nonprofit Eco-LogicalART Gallery has fostered the creation of huge new artworks, painted on recycled vinyl billboards, which are then installed back up on billboards. To date our "drive-by" exhibits have been on display across Los Angeles and San Francisco and been seen over 40 million times.

Planning is now under way to create several more pieces to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Eco-LA is looking for artists who would like to participate. Generally on the 14 x 48 foot "canvases" we do triptychs—each image being 10 x 13 feet. Though I like the art to stand on its own—and not necessarily be directly "Earth Day" themed, image that could be construed as "green" are also desirable.

If selected, Eco-LA will provide studio space for the painting in late February, with works needing to be completed by first week of April. Once installed (approx April 10th) each billboard art piece will be on display for at least 30 days and be seen over one million times each. The art piece installed directly over the Eco-LogicalART Gallery will be revealed with a "live" curtain drop at the show premiere.

As to the interior gallery show, we are also looking for artists who create with recycled/up-cycled materials. In March the gallery will also be offering canvases made from recycled billboard vinyl. In these cases we work with artists to try to use the underlying ad image as background for their new pieces. To date Eco-LA has sold over 50k of art on recycled vinyl.

If interested in participating, large or small, please send a few jpegs or direct me to your web sites. Being chosen as one of the full sized canvass painters will be more involved, requiring studies as depending on the billboard company, images have to be approved. (Our experience with CBS, Clear Channel, and Van Wagner has been remarkably friction free in this regard.)

Thank you. Feel free to go to eco-logicalart.org to learn more about the gallery (updating of the site underway). And here is a video link that describes our art on vinyl painting process, shows previous installs, and several or our live curtain drop event.
