2010 Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Program at the Getty

In order to increase diversity in the professions related to museums and
the visual arts, the Getty is offering summer internships at the Getty
Center and Villa to undergraduates of culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Multicultural Undergraduate Internships at the Getty are intended
specifically for outstanding students who are members of groups
currently underrepresented in museum professions and fields related to
the visual arts and humanities: individuals of African American, Asian,
Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. Students
gain experience in key areas such as curatorship,conservation,
education, publications, and related programmatic activities. Candidates
are sought from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to
have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts. Candidates

Eligibility
Students must:

* Be of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American,
or Pacific Islander descent;
* Be currently enrolled undergraduates who have completed at least
one semester of college by June 2010, or who will complete their
undergraduate degree by September 1, 2010; (Students who are enrolled in
a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)
* Reside or attend college in Los Angeles County; and
* Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

Terms
The internships are full-time (40 hours/week) positions, each with a
salary of $3,500, for a consecutive ten-week work period between June
and August 2010.

The application consists of 3 parts: Online, Email and Mail:

Online: Complete and submit the online portion of your application
(which includes uploading your Personal Statement and Supplemental
Applicant Information form) by 5:00 p.m. PST, MARCH 1,2010.

Email: These materials must be received in the Foundation office by
MARCH 1, 2010.

2 Letters of Recommendation. Typically, the most appropriate
recommenders are university faculty members who can address your
academic performance. Other recommenders may include past or current
employers of relevant work who are familiar with your skills and
abilities.

Your recommenders should email their confidential Letters of
Recommendation from their institutional email address, noting your name
in the subject line, to recletters@getty.edu

Mail: 1 original copy of your official undergraduate transcript(s).
Transcript(s) must record at least one semester or two quarters of
college after high school. If you have transferred in the past year, you
must also include a transcript from your previous college or university.
The official transcripts must be received by the Foundation by March 1,
2010. No hand deliveries will be accepted.

Notification
Finalists will be contacted for phone or in-person interviews in late
March/early April. All applicants will be notified of the Foundation's
final decision in May.
