Grants Manager, Los Angeles County Arts Commission

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is seeking a full-time Grants Manager to support and manage $4.4 million in grant programs to increase the capacity of the arts sector. The full-time position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the grantmaking process; conducting research to assess the qualities and needs of the arts sector in Los Angeles County; and implementing grant and technical assistance programs to address identified needs and realize strategies set forth by the Arts Commission.

Major responsibilities include:

Grant Programs

* Works with prospective and current grantees to strengthen constituents' understanding of grant guidelines and contract requirements;

* Coordinates and assists in the grant panel review process;

* Provides grantseekers with specific feedback on grant proposals;

* Provides analysis of grantee inquiries, proposals and reports to identify and make recommendations to assist the Arts Commission to strengthen the sector;

* Develops and implements grant initiatives and activities (e.g. challenge grants, grantee convenings, outreach activities); and

* Develops evaluation methods to support the Arts Commission's to understand the impact of its grants.

Research

* Conducts research, analyzes trends, and provides regional or national comparisons on a range of areas of interest (e.g. arts sector employment, participatory arts, leadership development);

* Maximizes the use of and analyzes data provided through the California Cultural Data Project data, a statewide data collection project;

* Designs and manages research projects, including the coordination of timelines, partners and the development of materials (e.g. monographs and reports); and

* Liaises with key stakeholders including arts administrators, board members and government officials.

Qualifications and competencies include:

* Exceptional ability to analyze information and data;

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

* Strong ability to problem solve and prioritize a multi-faceted workload under general supervision; and

* Outstanding attention to detail.

Reporting to the Director of Grants and Professional Development, this position is an integral part of a team of five.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelors degree plus two years of progressively responsible program management in arts administration, business administration or a related field, preferably in the Los Angeles area. Successful candidates will have strong knowledge of nonprofit arts management, including development, marketing, and fiscal systems and experience with strategic planning and analysis. Salary will be commensurate with experience within the range of $59,280 to $73,644 annually and include full benefits.
