AniFest, the International Festival of Animated Films based in the Czech Republic is opening the 2010 competition of 9th festival edition which will be held in May 18 – 23 in a Renaissance South Bohemian spa town Trebon.

The 9the edition of AniFest 2010 – the specialized animated festival will be imbued by the 100th birthday of a legendary film director Karel Zeman which we are going to be celebrating together with the film community worldwide. We would also like to invite you to the International Conference „Karel Zeman and His Contribution to the World Cinema“ immediately preceeding the festival (May 17-18, 2010). Shoud you consider attending the conference, please make sure you contact us by e-mail for making the reservation at your earliest convenience at info@anifest.cz.

The AniFest 2010 juries will consist of personalities from the world of animation such as Mr Jiri Barta (renowned Czech film director and artist), Mr Heitor Capuzzo (film historian and university professo Brazil/USA), Ms Vibeke Sorensen (experimental film director, artist, pedagogist, Denmark/USA), Mr Alexey Alexeev (author of awarded animated films Pole Hole and KJFG no. 5 - LogJam, Russia/Hungary), Ms Monique Renault (artist, film director, France/Holland) and others.

We are honored to also announce that Ms Ludmila Zeman, the animator and illustrator and the daughter of Karel Zeman accepted the role of the AniFest 2010 Honorary President and Mr Giannalberto Bendazzi, the renowned Italian film historian, the author of the word famous publication Cartoons, One Hundred Years of Cinema Animation and the Honorary President of AniFest 2009 will be the Patron of AniFest 2010.
